Everyone, at one time or another, will experience hard
times. They may be health issues,
financial issues, emotional issues or even a combination of many. Still, I don't think anyone has ever suffered quite
like Job in the Bible. As a result, we can learn
some very valuable lessons from this beautifully written poem.
Firstly it's important to remember that Job was a good
man. Bad things happen to good people;
in fact they're often more likely to happen to good people because Satan either
instigates it or uses bad times to try and pull us away from God. This was the case with Job. Satan believed that Job was only obedient to
God because he had been given so many blessings from God and that if those
blessings were taken away Job would 'curse God and die'.
The second thing it's important to remember as you read this
poem is that God was completely in charge.
He gave Satan boundaries that our arch enemy could not cross. This is still the case in our lives today,
Satan can only tempt or torment us as far as God allows. Furthermore we know that God will only ever
let us be tempted or tormented to the degree that we each, as individuals, can
handle. Satan will never be allowed to
burden you with a trial you cannot handle, with God's help.
The third thing that is also important to remember is that
while Job questioned God he never turned his back on his faith. Many of us feel that even questioning God is
blasphemous or turning our backs on our loving Father but the Book of Job shows
us that is not the case. It's perfectly all right
to question God because sometimes we truly don't understand why we're
suffering. However, when we utter those prayers and then seek out our answers in God's Holy Word we usually WILL find an answer to our pain.
The next thing you have to remember though is that while
it's fine to question God you won't always get an answer. When you do have those feelings read the
incredibly beautiful way that God answered Job.
We are going to be tested in this life because God is training us to be
'Kings and Priests' with Him forever.
Without training, or going through trials [which is the same thing], we
would not be able to fulfil that role.
As I said at the start we will all go through trials and
tribulations. We will all suffer loss, pain and feel anguish, guilt and despair
at times. The one thing we must try
never to forget, the primary lesson to be learned from the Book of Job, is that
God loves us. Just as God loved Job so
He loves each and every one of us. It is
God's will that He not lose any of us to Satan's world. So no matter what you may be going through,
remember God loves you and He is always with you, till the very end.
Hold fast to God's love and when you slip and fall, and you
will, remember that He is there to help you back up again. When you lose your way on the path, just as a
shepherd will find his lost sheep, so too will God be with you and bring you home. He has promised you a crown of glory in His
eternal Kingdom, only you, by your attitudes and behaviours, can let Satan snatch it out of your hands.
In peace and love,
Tracey
